Event Description: In our world of constant connection - social media, texts, emails, news - many of us are struggling to "keep up" with the demands on our time and attention. Is our only option to constantly react to a world that is out of our control? Must we ricochet between boredom and burnout? Do we ever truly rest? Join us for this collaborative seminar to explore what learning to receive the gift of Sabbath rest might look like for you.
Dr. Michelle Crouch is a long-term Adjunct Professor of Music at Augustana College. In addition to teaching voice and related courses including Music History, Michelle teaches a course for the Religion Department on Work and Sabbath Rest. Dr. Crouch is a life-long student of the Bible and theology, and loves to cultivate friendship through Bible studies, prayer groups, and spiritual conversations. Musically, Dr. Crouch is known throughout the region as a soprano, teacher, and accompanist. She serves on the board of Opera Quad Cities, seeking to tend to this art form by providing a place for local singers to perform. Michelle leads a very full life and is learning to experience REST through practicing SABBATH.
Testimony: I worked closely with Michelle for 15 years until my retirement in 2023, and continue in a Bible Study she leads. We have performed, studied, and prayed together. I wholeheartedly encourage you to set aside the afternoon to focus on bringing Sabbath into your life. You'll be very glad that you participated in this collaborative seminar. (Dr. John Pfautz, Music Professor Emeritus, Augustana College.)
